Energy Bars

These Energy Bars Are Not Just For Athletes

There is a need for quick, convenient and nutrient-rich foods. These bars are great when taking part in sports, outdoor activities, travelling, and to take for a snack when running errands around town.  Making your own with some simple ingredients ensures that you won’t be consuming some of the “questionable” ingredients that are in some of the commercially available bars.

Many traditional cultures from the past had a need for food that was convenient and nutrient-rich. Some examples are First Nations Pemmican, European aged cheeses and hard cured sausages, Mexican Pozol (fermented corn meal wrapped in banana leaves). My favorite is raw aged cheese, crispy raw nuts  and a piece of seasonal organic fruit.
